Hellebore
Hellebores are hardy early-season perennials that bring life to the garden when few other plants are in bloom. Their evergreen foliage provides year-round structure, while long-lasting, nodding flowers offer early nectar for pollinators and a touch of subtle winter colour.
Shop Hellebore plants online
Parker’s stocks a wide selection of Hellebore varieties to suit any garden. Whether it’s the dramatic dark blooms of Helleborus Single Black or the gorgeous Helleborus Double Ellen, our mixed packs and curated collections provide a range of colours and forms, perfect for borders, woodland-style beds, or sheltered containers.
Where to plant Hellebore
Hellebores thrive in partial shade with moist, well-drained, fertile soil. They prefer neutral to slightly alkaline conditions and benefit from protection in exposed spots. Mulching in autumn helps retain moisture and improve soil structure.
Companion plants
Combine Hellebores with shade-tolerant perennials like Ferns, Pulmonaria and Heuchera. Woodland shrubs and grasses provide texture and backdrop, while early bulbs, such as Snowdrops, add seasonal layering.
Growing Hellebore
Plant from autumn to early spring and enrich the soil with organic matter. Water well in dry spells and mulch to conserve moisture. Remove old or damaged leaves in late winter to reveal fresh foliage and blooms. Division is rarely needed, as Hellebores thrive when left undisturbed.
