Curly Parsley – Common Curly Parsley is a herb grown for its flavourful, decorative leaves, ideal for garnishing and culinary use. It offers bright green, tightly curled foliage with a fresh, mild taste and reaches around 25–30cm at maturity. It is best grown in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade, with a typical cropping period of 70–90 days from sowing.

Sow curly parsley seeds indoors from February to April or directly outdoors from April to June once the risk of frost has passed, choosing a warm, sheltered spot. Use fertile, well-drained soil, enriched with compost for best results. Sow seeds about 0.5–1cm deep in rows or pots and keep the soil consistently moist. Germination can be slow, usually taking 14–28 days, so patience is needed. Once seedlings are a few centimetres tall, thin them to around 20–25cm apart to give plants enough space to grow. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged and remove weeds regularly. Harvest the outer leaves first once plants are established, which encourages continuous growth, and successive sowing every few weeks can provide a steady supply of fresh leaves throughout the season.
